Individual therapy (also called counseling or psychotherapy) at Heartwork Counseling Center is a collaborative process where you meet one-on-one with a trained therapist. Our therapists will provide you with a safe, validating, and supportive environment where you will be encouraged to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Therapy involves talking about very important, personal, and sensitive topics. Your decision to start therapy is a bold act of courage to address particular issues in your life. And while opening up and being vulnerable may not be comfortable, it is never weakness. Your choice to seek out therapy also speaks of your desire to grow, heal, and know yourself on a deeper, more authentic level. In our experience, effective treatment requires your active participation and planning. To some extent, our ability to help you depends on how open you can be about yourself and your ideas, feelings, and actions. We ask that you arrive on time to each appointment, come prepared to use your session according to your needs, share openly, and take risks.
